Hilary Duff sent Perez Hilton a basket full of her favourite baby products when his son was born.

The gossip blogger recently announced the birth of his first child via surrogate and was touched when Hilary - who has son Luca, 11 months, with husband Mike Comrie - reached out to him.

Speaking at his 35th birthday celebration at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, Perez exclusively told BANG Showbiz: 'Hilary Duff sent over a gift basket with some of her favourite baby things. She is so sweet and it was such a nice thing for her to do.'

Perez loves fatherhood but admitted keeping his surrogate's pregnancy a secret was difficult.

He explained: 'Fatherhood is so wonderful. The pregnancy was a hard thing to keep secret but because I am such a polarising figure I was worried for the surrogate's safety so I decided to keep it a secret until the baby was born.

'I've been getting some tips from my mom but mainly I've just been listening to the baby. He lets me know when I need something.'

Other guests at the pyjama themed bash on Saturday night (23.03.13) included Ciara, Jason Derulo and Jordan Sparks.
