Lizzie McGuire is back!

Or, at least, she will be. Former Disney Channel star Hilary Duff announced via Twitter yesterday that shell soon be returning to a small screen near you. Ok its official! she wrote. Very excited about my development deal with 20th century fox!! t.v. here I come! :)

A rep for 20th Century Fox filled in the details, telling EW that Duff has signed a one-year deal to develop a half-hour sitcom that she will both produce and star in. If her vehicle ends up not moving forward, 20th Century Fox can also cast Duff in another sitcom or drama pilot.

Its hard to believe, but the girl who was once caught in a love triangle with Lindsay Lohan and Aaron Carter is now a 24-year-old adult with a husband, a baby, and a second career writing YA novels. Still, I cant help but hope that her new show will be some variation on Lizzie McGuire: All Grown Up.

Imagine it: After graduating without distinction from a lesser-known college in the UC system, Lizzie moves to L.A. and gets a job teaching rhythmic gymnastics at a hoity-toity prep school. While in line at The Coffee Bean, she runs into her old pal Gordo whos now working as a gofer for some big-name director. Sparks fly. They talk about how nobodys seen Miranda in 10 years. Maybe Lizzie reveals that her younger brothe! r Matt i s in prison. Im just spitballing here, people.

Do you think Duff should look to her past for her upcoming series or are you hoping to see something completely different?
