Hilary Duff Pulls the Old "I'm Just Holding It for a Friend" Routine When Caught with a Cigarette
Hilary Duff is doing some serious method acting for her new role as mom, prepping for the day her infant son Luca becomes a teen and inevitably gets caught smoking.
In what was no doubt an attempt to put herself in her future son's shoes, the former Lizzie McGuire star was photographed "holding" a cigarette outside Rock & Reilly's Irish Pub in Los Angeles on Friday.
And, since they're such good sports, the paparazzi were game to play the part of future Hilary, with Crushable.com claiming the sight alone made the photogs "want to cry."
"Yikes. Me holding a cigarette for my friend might have been a bad idea!" Hilary tweeted on Monday, after she was totally busted. "Pretty bummed about the photo.. Sorry guys, looks worst than it is!"
Totally, Hils. Just like that time when you were caught "holding" your now-husband's "hockey stick" in your mouthfor a friend.
As for why her "friend" may have been smoking, it could be due to an impending threat to Luca's trust fund.
TMZ is reporting the Duffster just got hit with a lawsuit over a 2010 car accident in which her Range Rover allegedly crashed into another car, seriously injuring the other driver.
According to the lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Duff was driving in L.A. on December 12, 2010 when she ran into a car driven by a Rachel Owens.
Owens is reportedly seeking unspecified damages after suffering "great mental, physical and nervous pain and s! uffering " that led to her missing work, as well as "prevented her from attending her usual occupation for a period of time in the future" as a result of her injuries.
Can we suggest going with a stronger defense than "I was holding on to a friend's driving wheel"?
