Hilary Duff is busy promoting her new novel and preparing to become a first-time mom, but after her baby boy arrives early next year, she plans to head back into the studio to record a new album.

The 24-year-old told E! News that she plans to take a little time off after the baby arrives to "learn how to be a really good mom," but she had pre-pregnancy plans of recording an album that she still plans on doing.

"I want to get into the studio," Duff told the website. "I want to start recording. Even if I just mess around and kind of get myself in the swing of it. Before I got pregnant I was thinking about making a record so I still want to do that."

"There's no reason why I can't put a record out and tour," she added. "...It might take a little while but I'm really excited about it."
